Round up for Project Help!

Our billing software now has the ability to round up your bill to the nearest dollar with the difference going to our Project Help fund. Project Help collects donations from our customers and passes them on to the Community Action Committee of St. Mark and St. Paul (CAC), where it is used to pay folk’s water and sewer bill when they need a bit of help. The CAC has graciously agreed to use the funds we send them to assist our customers only, but I’m sure they would appreciate any additional donations to help out with some of their other wonderful programs!

Please consider rounding up your bill for this worthy cause – it really makes a difference in our community!

Call the office @ (931) 598-5611 to enroll or if you have any questions.

Help us help you!

Please take a moment to verify your contact information with SUD by either giving us a call @ 598-5611, sending us an email with your information to office@sewaneeutility.org, or confirming with us when you come to the office to pay your bill.

We always try to contact our customers when there is an issue with their account, but if we don’t have correct contact information, we cannot notify you when you have a possible leak, if you forgot to pay your bill, or if there is some other problem with your account.

Flushable is not a thing!

Please do not flush wipes down the toilet. In the last several years we have seen an alarming increase in the number of pump failures due to “flushable” wipes, diapers and towels entering our system. Wipes tend to wrap together and turn into long strings of fabric in the sewer pipes, attracting grease and other solids and eventually clogging the pipes. The wipes that do make it to a grinder pump or pumping station wrap around the impeller of the pump, slowing the rotation down and eventually causing the motor to burn up. Please do not put anything other than toilet paper in a toilet – your pipes will thank you!

Leak Insurance

At the April 25th meeting of the SUD Board of Commissioners, the Board voted to change the District’s water leak adjustment policy to reflect the move from a cost sharing model to a insurance based cost recovery model. Now when a residential customer has a leak, they will contact a trained ServLine customer service representative who will walk the customer through the process. If the leak qualifies under SUD’s adjustment policy, all the customer will be required to pay is their six-month average bill instead of half the leak amount as required under our old policy. SUD will then be reimbursed by the insurance company for the entire amount of the leak. If the leaked water amounts to more that $1000 above their average bill, the customer will be responsible for that amount.

The change in policy and the accompanying leak insurance coverage went into effect August 1st, 2017. As of that date, all leaks that fall within the guidelines of our leak adjustment policy will be paid through insurance funds and not by the customer. All of our customers are automatically enrolled in this program and will have a $1.30 monthly charge added to their bill. Customers who wish to decline this service can call ServLine at  (931) 386-3885 and have this charge removed from their bill, but any customer who declines protection will be responsible for all water charges incurred, including leaks.

ServLine also offers two optional insurance items that our customers can opt for; Water Line Protection and Sewer Line Protection. For additional information on these products, such as what is covered and pricing, please call (931) 386-3885 and a ServLine representative will be happy to assist you.

Here is a flyer with more information about the program.
